My specials dog from the early '80's. Brandy was owner handled to a spot on the top ten. He was a specialty winner as a class dog, and BB winner at several specialties while being campaigned. He died of cancer at 11. Brandy is also a ROM member, with 14 Champion offspring. Due to my having some frozen Brandy semen, that number may increase.
Ch Sonbar's Celestial Lalande

"Candy" to her friends. She was Kari's Juniors dog in the 80's, and the dam of Bravo. She was a top ten basenji the years Kari showed her, and also helped Kari become the top junior handler in the entire USA (all breeds) in 1986. A wonderful pet and show dog, sadly, she died of our breeds kidney disorder, Fanconis.
Ch Sonbar's Celestial Draco

From the 2nd litter born here, "Coke" was our first specials dog, he was retired when Brandy started to be campaigned. A Register of Merit (ROM) sire and our top producing sire, he has 23 champion offspring. Coke lived a long life, was 15 1/2 when he died.
Ch Sonbar's Celestial Wizard

"Bravo" is probably the best known of all Sonbar dogs, having been campaigned heavily in 91,92, 93. He was the Top Basenji, all systems those three years, and broke the exhisting record for number of Best In Shows won by a basenji by the time he was retired with 24 BIS. Presented by either Mike Work or Nina Work he also won BB at two national specialties. Bravo came home to spend his last year where he was born, lived to be 10 1/2. He died from a neurological problem, and was being treated Fanconi at the time of his death.
Am/Can Ch Sonbar's Bebopbabe

"Bebope" died at 14+ years of age, from old age. She was bred to Bravo to produce Ch Sonbar's Brite Exoticredhead, thus she's Irish's Grandmother.
*Rigel (AKA Challenge) was from a repeat of the breeding that produced Pepsi)
Bebop has good hips (OFA).

Pepsi spent her younger days in Oregon, returned home to Sonbar and produced many lovely puppies for us. She's also a ROM member, with 8 Champion offspring
Pepsi also lived to be an old girl, dying at 13 from multiple strokes..
Pepsi had good (OFA) hips and normal eyes.

A group 1 winner from the classes, and a specialty winner, Best in Sweepstakes and best of winners, Cincinati Specialty 88. She's the dam of Ch Sonbar's Brite Northernexposure (see Maggie page). She's also a ROM member, with 4 Champion offspring.
Tania died at 10 from an allergic reaction of unknown origin.
Tania had Good (OFA) hips and normal eyes.
Ch Hannalore's Fidget Bridget

"Fidget" lived most of her life here at Sonbar. She's a ROM member, and Dam of Fizz and Candy below. Fidget is a ROM member, with 11 Ch offspring. Fidget lived to be 12 +, and died after coming down with pyometra, an infection of the uterus.

"Grandma Bridget" is our foundation bitch. One of the nicest tempered basenji in her day. She was whelped in 1972, and came here at 4 months. She became the first specialty winner we owned. My biggest disappointment in all my years showing dogs is that grandma Bridget didn't get that last leg to her Utility Degree, the most difficult of the obedience degrees. Every dog here at Sonbar is directly related to Grandma Bridget. Bridget is also a ROM member, with 4 Champion offspring.
Am Can Ch Sonbar's Brite Exoticredhead

"Brite" was healthy right up until the time of her death, at 12. She died from a neurological disorder. She is The dam of Irish (see Irish pups page). A ROM member with 6 Champion offspring.
Fizz is our top producing bitch, with 13 Champion offspring.
She's also the first dog that Kari finished from first to last point. Kari was 12 when Fizz finished her AKC Ch.
Fizz lived to be a grand old 14 years old, died from multiple strokes. Fizz had Good hips (OFA) and normal eyes.
Ch Sonbar's Celestial Rigel

"Challenge is pictured with me, Sally, handling, and owner Cindy Groslie. Challenge finished very quickly and was bred to Brandy to produce Bebop. She died at 13, of unknown causes, was put down due to great pain, which makes me think cancer. She was a full sister to Pepsi, a year younger.
Am & Can Ch Sonbar's Brite Genuineoriginal passed over the rainbow bridge during the winter of 07-08. Dasher was a group 1 winner, from the classes. He was awarded best Veteran in show at 13. He won an award of merit at '04 nationals. Rest in Peace Dasher. Dasher was 14 + at the time of his death. Just old age issues.
